And of course GSC is first up (and has more than anyone else). There’s a lot, so let’s dive right in! The <a href="http://www.plastikitty.com/home/take-a-peek-at-snow-miku-2017-figma-nendoroid" target="_blank">new Snow Miku 2017</a> merchandise will be there: both the Nendoroid (¥5,500) and figma (¥6,00). I love the sleepy face of the Nendo, but I still wish there was more detail on the dress.     GSC’s Winter Wonder Fesitval 2017 Exclusives

    Ride Into The New Year With Race Queen Rin Tohsaka

    For reasons I don’t fully understand, I am a huge sucker for the Race Queens figure genre. They’re just so cute! I mean, I don’t like watching actual car racing, and the outfits don’t exactly suit my everyday style, so who knows what it is. But I am drawn to them like a moth to the flame. And I was particularly excited when Stronger showed off a racing Saber (which is now painted and in the gallery!).

    But they’re not just doing Saber. And unlike 99% of companies, the next girl is not going to be another Saber variant (though I have no doubt they’ll get to that). It’s Rin!     Miyazawa Model Expo Fall 2016: Good Smile Company & Co

    At any event they attend, Good Smile Company and their numerous umbrella companies always steal the show. How can they not, with so much firepower? AlphaMax! Orchid Seed!), I come back to them time and time again because of their consistent quality and unique sculpts. And once again they brought it in force to MegaHobby with a variety of gorgeous sculpts, painted figures, and new announcements.</p> <p>Of course there were a few from their IDOLM@STER line: their Rin Shibuya (who looks basically identical to the GSC one, let’s be honest) is painted, and they brought out the sculpt for their perfect winged Ranko who I love with all my heart. And the boys were out in force! What happened to the green?</p> <p>It’s also a pretty mysterious figure. We have a release date (August) and know pre-orders are open tonight, but she’s also linked to a Chinese kickstarter and appears to be an exclusive. Though hey, in this day and age that won’t stop any figure collector! The price, though, might just do that…</p> <p><strong>[UPDATE]</strong> It seems there are two versions of this beauty! The DX one with the base is exclusive, so you will need a proxy for her. There’s also a standard edition with a simpler base available at most figure stores. However, their price is the same, so you’ll only pay about 2k more in proxy fees if you get the special edition.     Hobby Max’s Saber Bride Is A Thing of Beauty

    There are quite a few figures of Saber Bride out there. I already own three: AlphaMax, Medicom, and Good Smile, and I was fairly certain that would be more than enough for me. But apparently not, because Hobby Max has just unveiled a Bride figure sculpted by Kiking that is beyond my wildest dreams for a figure of her. With an amazing base, intricate details, and a unique pose, this Bride has it all–though her eyes are golden, which is a bit odd. What happened to the green?

    It’s also a pretty mysterious figure. We have a release date (August) and know pre-orders are open tonight, but she’s also linked to a Chinese kickstarter and appears to be an exclusive.     Rev Your Engines For Racing Saber

    I love the aesthetic of racing queen figures, but we rarely get ones that aren’t Miku Hatsune. And man do we get a LOT of Racing Miku (not that I’m complaining about that–I love them all). The dealer room is absolutely massive, and if we attempted to hunt down and show you every single kit at the event it’d probably take several days worth of coverage. And, you know, it’s kind of bittersweet because they’re pretty but you can’t buy them (unless you have a proxy + the skill, time, & money to paint one).</p> <p>This year we had a pretty decent lineup, though I have to say I think it was lacking a bit compared to the last few. There was a LOT of <em>Kantai Collection</em>–mostly Iowa and Kashima, oddly enough. Of course we had Fate/Stay Night, IDOLM@STER, Love Live, and tons more (like a surprise Adventure Time figure!).     While obviously for Wonder Festival is on PVC figures that you can actually buy, there are always 10x more garage kits than commercially produced merchandise. The dealer room is absolutely massive, and if we attempted to hunt down and show you every single kit at the event it’d probably take several days worth of coverage. And, you know, it’s kind of bittersweet because they’re pretty but you can’t buy them (unless you have a proxy + the skill, time, & money to paint one).
