  • Figmas: like Nendoroids, a metric crapton are announced, and while every Wonder Festival Leah writes up the Nendoroids, I get to write up the figmas, which is kind of funny because I adore Nendoroids and don’t really like figmas (I mean, why the hell are some of them more than scaled figures now? But I digress…) so this is pretty much going to be the same style as that Nendoroid post, a giant list. Yeah, I know that was probably a run on sentence, but it’s like 3 am and Leah and I have been at this for like 9 hours now so deal with it. We’ve already shown you a good number of figmas: Sakura from Cardcaptor Sakura, the MC from Persona 4, the Type 18 Gardes and Benisuzume figmas from Knights of Sidonia (there’s a bonus pic of the sculpt of the Type 18 Gardes in the gallery), Yugi and Dark Magician Girl from Yu-Gi-Oh!, Motoko Kusanagi from Ghost in the Shell: ARISE, and Miki from Idolm@ster. Now onto the new! In the anime world we’ve got Hizamaru Akari from Terraformars, Winged Homura from Madoka Magica, Kirito and Sinon from Sword Art Online II, Makishima Yuusuke from Yowamushi Pedal (seriously, does anyone order these weird bike anime figmas?), Masaru from the cult manga and anime Sexy Commando Gaiden: Sugoi yo!! Masaru-san, the mech from Nobunaga the Fool (why is this show still getting merch? It was awful and everyone dropped it after two episodes, I mean there is literal Leonardi Da Vinci-san…), Satsuki from Kill la Kill, Shinobu from Nisemonogatari, a tanned Soniko from her anime where she wears a bikini every single episode (I suffered through that for everyone), and yet another Yoshika from Strike Witches because who the hell knows. Then in the gaming world we’ve got Lucina from Fire Emblem, Solid Snake and the Gurlukovich Soldiers from the Metal Gear Solid universe, and Pyramid Head from Silent Hill. We also have two new Racing Mikus: her regular 2014 version and the Mirai 2014 version. I have no clue why we need two, but I’m going to assume the reason is $$$. Finally in the land of who the hell knows what’s going on we’ve got King Leonidas from 300, a horse, and the Thinker by Rodin. Yeah, I have just about as much of a clue on those last ones as you do. • One of the big kits at Winter Wonder Festival was Lunar Farside’s Ultimate Homura–not necessarily because of the sculpting prowess, but just on the basis of the character and outfit. I mean, Goddess Madoka has been wildly popular, and Homura as a character even more so, and it makes sense that even this sub-par sculpt would get a lot of fanfare. As you can tell, I’m not a fan–I much prefer the custom version of her PVC. But a talented painter can make all the difference, and the shots we are looking at today are absolutely stunning! The painjob itself is sharp and lovely, especially her wings and the detail on her stockings. Of course the shots themselves are gorgeous which helps a lot. I still don’t love this kit, but this is definitely helping push me more into the “almost like” territory. Now if only Grizzry Panda would make and Ultimate Homu to go with his Madoka… speaking of which, we’re going to have a gallery of her on the site very soon! [via Sagyo00a]

  • [Note: the following post contains Madoka Magica spoilers] Remember that amazing modded ‘You Are Not Alone’ Homura that added in her witch wings? Well, we only had a few shots back then but now there are more! So many more, it’s making me a bit sad. In, you know, a “why didn’t Good Smile make these?!” kind of way. Because really, they look like they are made of lightweight plastic, certainly they could have stuck some in the box. Then again, maybe I could make some myself… ah who am I kidding, I’m not handy at all! [via Purin34]

  • [note: this post contains spoilers for Madoka Magica] Since Ultimate Madoka was unveiled, people have been hoping for a matching Ultimate Homura. After all, not only is Homura a far more popular character but her witch-wings are the very last thing you see in the anime! We did get a garage kit of this version, but it was a little… tacky for HomuHomu. Thankfully we’re getting a version of her now! Just kidding, it’s a custom of the ‘You Are Not Alone’ WonFest release of GSC’s Homura. Of course then it includes her red ribbon from Madoka along with her new bow. Come on GSC, release wings like this as an accessory! [via purin_s_34’s Twitter]

  • [Note: This post contains spoilers for Madoka Magica!] So by now everyone knows about Ultimate Madoka, but what about Homura’s final form? After all, the very last shot of the show is dedicated to her amazing witch wings! And Homura seems to be a far more popular character than Madoka, especially in garage kit circles. So, finally, makers are taking this into their own hands–Lunar Farside will be selling a kit of her at Winter Wonder Festival. Now, this sculpt is far from perfect–the face is off, and there’s way too much T&A for a Madoka figure–but I adore the concept! I’d love to see a sculptor like Grizzry Panda take on this design or, dare I say it, GSC themselves to go along with their Goddess Madoka? [via fg-site]
