A new year means new toys! And Javier Jiménez, creator of Wananeko and Baby Wananeko, is starting 2017 off on a very good note for those of us who like both cats and toys. Which is basically all of humanity, right?
This Sunday, a super-limited run of 5 hand-painted Baby Wananekos will go up in the StickUp Monsters store. Not only are these guys adorable, but by buying one you help support an awesome cause! All proceeds will go to Maullidos Invisibles, a cat welfare organization in Granada. So you get a toy kitty and help out real-life strays and sick cats! All for a mere $35. What could be better?

Earlier this week we saw Bigshot Toyworks‘ Destiny figures, but of course they had a lot more at the event! And most of it didn’t even feature my faves, the Ponies of the ‘Pocalypse. There was quite the variety going on!
My favorite was definitely the Colonel Sanders trio “Southern Fried Gentlemen”, which tickles my fried chicken loving heart. They’re just so adorable! I 100% would put one of these in my kitchen with my other food-themed figures, which there are a surprising amount of. You can find out more about these figures and many more by signing up for the Bigshot Toyworks mailing list!

For such a popular game, Destiny has had little in the way of merchandise. But I certainly didn’t expect to see figures of it pop up at Bigshot Toyworks’ booth! Mostly because when I think of them, I think of their amazing Four Horsies of the ‘Pocalypse.
But of course they do many things other than evil My Little Ponies, like a line of Destiny minis that they showed off at NYCC. So small, so cute, so ferocious! You can find out more about these upcoming Destiny figures by signing up for the Bigshot Toyworks mailing list as well as more info should be coming soon.

I don’t know about you guys, but I am ultimate hype for World of Final Fantasy. It’s everything I love! And honestly, I desire Dragon Warrior Monsters-style spinoffs for all my faves. Monster catching in Elder Scrolls. Monster catching in Diablo. Monster catching in all the games. But add in that you wear the monsters as hats? AND THE MONSTERS WEAR MONSTER HATS? I can’t even.
Thankfully, we’re getting some cute as hell merch from the game. It’s from Square-Enix (of course) and it seems like they’ll be doing vinyl figures from it. It’s hard to judge the size, but they don’t seem that small–and oh my god are they adorable.

It’s that time of year again for San Diego Comic Con exclusives to start pouring in before the show in about a month and first up to the plate this year is Kidrobot, with a whole slew of exclusives. First up is a really awesome limited edition of 200 of The Litch from Adventure Time in an 8″ clear resin rendition for $100. This is probably my favorite of all of the exclusives and definitely something you won’t want to pass up. Then we finally have the final version of the Mr. Sparkle figure from The Simpsons that we showed off a bit of back at Toy Fair and he looks, quite frankly, phenomenal! This 7″ vinyl figure limited to 500 pieces and retailing for $50 is everything a Simpsons fan would want out of a Mr. Sparkle figure and I really hope there’s some left after the show to pick one up myself.
Over in video game land we’ve got two new additions: a 7″ version of Shin Akuma from Street Fighter limited to 500 pieces for $50 each and a 3″ metallic Mega Man limited to 1500 pieces for $15 each. The Akuma looks great in this colorway and Mega Man looks like a must own, especially at that price where he doesn’t break the bank as a nice souvenir to take home from the con. Last over in cartoon land we have three pieces: a new glow in the dark version of Jason Freeny’s Anatomical Wabbit featuring a dissected Bugs Bunny from Looney Tunes that’s 12″ tall, limited to 500 pieces, and $65, and then two 7″ additions to the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles line with a gold Shredder and a green Triceraton, which will both be limited to 500 pieces and retail for $40.
Now, if you’re looking to score any of these exclusives, Kidrobot is now offering a pre-order situation where you order your items online before the show and then pick up at the show. Starting on June 13th, next Monday, all of these exclusives will be up for pre-order. To pick up your piece at the con you’ll need your order number, ID, and badge, and your names on all three must match, so no picking up for others! No word on what time these will be up on Kidrobot’s site, but that will most likely come in the next few days and best of luck to anyone trying for these.

We’ve talked about our love for Javier Jimenez’s Wananeko vinyl cat figure before, and today we have a new update on this little fellow! He’ll be heading across the pond to Toycon UK which takes place this Saturday April 9th at York Hall, London. So if you’re lucky enough to be nearby, what Wananeko goodies can you get at the event?
Well, there will be a limited edition chocolate-colored STRAY colorway who comes with the Ghost Blaster weapon and a nifty header designed by Pedro Delgado. Want something a little more fancy? There will be a super-limited 3-piece edition Outlaw Wananeko, which is hand painted! And he comes with a little poncho, aww. They’ll be at Martian Toys’ booth No. 11-12 if you want to grab one! We’ll also be getting a new resin figure at the event, which hopefully we’ll see in a few days.

From a young age I have been kind of obsessed with the apocalypse. I mean, I wrote a paper about the apocalypse in pop culture my senior year of highschool… and it’s probably only escalated from there. So of course this extends to toys, though apocalyptic toys are few and far between sadly.
Enter Bigshot Toyworks and their Horsies of the ‘Pocalypse! We reviewed Maddie a while back (who has the bonus of being both apocalyptic and Lovecraftian), and now, as we promised during Toy Fair, it’s time for her little minions, who are based on the four horsemen of the apocalypse.

Everybody loves Mr. Sparkle, because he’s disrespectful to dirt!
Isn’t it funny what snippets of media end up being enduringly popular? It’s always moments I’m sure the creators never expected to be sensationally popular, but that’s exactly what happened with Mr. Sparkle, the Japanese company logo that appeared quite briefly in The Simpsons. And while I knew Kidrobot was making Simpsons figures, I definitely would never have bet on a vinyl Mr. Sparkle. But here we are, with a shiny all-gold Mr. Sparkle to get your dishes sparkling and fresh. Or, you know, to look cute and goofy on your shelf.

It’s Toy Fair (or, you know, it was Toy Fair) and you know what that means! Time to take a look at everyone’s favorite brain-sucking ponies. Because who doesn’t like the apocalypse, Lovecraftian nightmares, and ponies? Because it’s truly the most sublime combination. The Horsies of the ‘Pocalypse were on full display, along with a gorgeous custom Maddie. We got to see Nugglife paint her in person!
A few months ago we brought you a review of Maddie, and we’ll be bringing you a review of the full Horsie lineup soon. You can check them out in the gallery, along with their All City Style figures, Gnomeboys, and the amazing Mignola statue we saw at NYCC!

Sometimes you think you’ve seen all there is to offer in the world of vinyl. I mean, how many plastic cats and Dunnys does one girl need? I mean, kidding obviously, there’s no limit to the amount of toy cats I will own. Or real cats.
Anyway, sometimes something fresh pops into the market that takes even me by surprise. And I was definitely shocked to see a chess set at Kidrobot this year, with gorgeous art by Otto Bjornik. A cool idea in concept, but sadly it’s a little too rich for my blood. You can buy the set two ways: the first is in a double blind boxed set where you will get one pawn and one mystery royal figure + four board pieces (with the pawn in a window box so you can see the color). These retail for $19.99 each. There will also be super-limited full sets of 33: the entire white & black sets, plus the uber-rare gold chase that you can check out in the gallery. Price on this is TBA, but I can’t imagine actually being able to afford it. However, imagine how nice this would look on a coffee table…
