  • I hope you’re not tired of Miku yet, because today we have what might be the most beautiful figure of her ever made. A bold statement, given the companies and sculptors that have worked on the Vocaloid, but something about Good Smile’s Harvest Moon version is really doing it for me. She’s so soft and ethereal, the colors and gentle sculpting combine to make something absolutely magical. I think even people hit with Miku-fatigue will be swayed by this beauty. She is also very affordable (given the current market): ¥12,800 for a 1/8 scale with a November 2018 release. Yes, you read that right: November. It will be over a year before any of us own her. Absurd? Yes. A deterrent from me ordering her? Hell no! This is also part of the new Character Vocal Series, and I can’t wait to see what they come up with next. • Prize figures have always been appealing: you get a cheap version of a popular character, often in an outfit that we’d never see in scales. Plus, the quality gets better and better on them every year. With rising scaled figure prices and a worsening exchange rate, prize figures are looking better than ever, so it’s a good thing the upcoming lineup of them seems amazing! We have all the regulars out and about: Evangelion, Kantai Collection, Sword Art Online, Fate/Grand Order, Bakemonogatari, Miku, Lupin, and many many more. The noodle topper ones really seem to be taking the prize world by storm: I have a few and can vouch for how amazingly fun they are to display all sorts of odd ways. Any of them catch your eye? • So far, I have been easily able to resist the Magical Mirai Miku scaled figures. Which is really saying something, because I am borderline addicted to Miku figures. Is there a cool one coming up? I probably have it on order. But the first one was kind of terribly sculpted and the second was too expensive and too small, so they were easy passes. This year it’s going to be a little tougher. I mean, there are two big reasons to skip this: 1, it’s made by FuRyu, who up until now have only done prize figures so god only knows what the final quality will be like. 2, her price is an astounding ¥17,064 and she’s limited + exclusive so no discounts. Oh, and she comes out in February, an already-busy month for me. But… her design is so cute! I (of course) love the clear fade on her hair, and the cheerful face is just adorable. And the frills!! But is she worth the risk? Probably not. Pre Order At: AmiAmi

  • Usually we get a decent amount of time between the reveal of Good Smile’s two seasonal Mikus, Snow and Racing. But this year, they’re going a little crazy for her 10th anniversary and showing off both at the same time! Because what we need this week is more Miku news, don’t you think? I must admit that the Racing designs almost never win me over until I see a sculpted scale, and this one is no different: it’s a little blah, and I feel like the ‘royalty’ theme for her is a little overdone. The Snow design, though, is so cute! Makes me sad we never get scales of the Snow designs. [via linz_torute]

  • Choo choo, all aboard the Vocaloid hype train~ This is an announcement I was expecting, but am still excited about. To follow up Dollfie Dreams Miku, Snow Miku, and Rin & Len, Volks will be adding Luka Megurine! AKA my favorite Vocaloid girl, I’m such a sucker for that long pink hair. Hopefully she will be a pre-order like all the others! They also announced two new Miku DD outfits from 7th Dragon that are just gorgeous. I’m sure they will be in the $150-200 range because the wig might be included, but honestly… totally worth it. I’ve skipped all the previous alt Miku outfits, but if pre-orders for this open at the same time as Luka they are coming home to me. [via the Dollfie Dream Twitter]

  • 2 minutes ago I was all “if I see another Vocaloid related announcement on my Twitter I am going to cry.” Guys, I was wrong. I was so wrong. Since Tony Taka first showed off his Luka concept art a few weeks ago I’ve been begging the figure gods for a scaled figure. And my prayers have been answered! If this is anything like their scaled Tony Taka Racing Miku, it’s going to be glorious: soft colors and clear PVC and wings. So many things I love. Now we just need Tony’s bike Miku and kimono Miku as figures… [via Good Smile’s Twitter]

  • Are you Miku’d out yet? I sure hope not, because this week has just been a deluge of Miku-formation. And tonight we have a brand-new scale from Good Smile Company! Not like they already have a ton of Mikus in the works or anything, amirite? This is the ‘Kurowa Kotoba Awase Kagami Ver’ (what a mouthful), and given that our concept ‘art’ is a 3D game render it’s kind of hard to tell what this will look like when it’s not… uncanny valley. The dress looks really cool, though! [via Kahotan’s Twitter]

  • It may be Miku Hatsune’s anniversary week, but that doesn’t mean that the other Vocaloids (or whatever you want to classify Kasane Teto as) don’t deserve some love too. Though let’s be honest, no one was expecting this! Not only an Utau figure, but one with such stunning & unique concept art? This ‘Yoshiwara Lament’ version seems to have a whole lot of figure potential. Color me surprised, and very happy. [via Kahotan’s Twitter]

  • This has been a great week for Miku lovers: the Magical Mirai Nendoroid, the 10th Anniversary Nendoroid, and now the (matching) 10th Anniversary scaled figure! A great way to say happy birthday to Miku (and also a great way to say goodbye to our wallets). While the concept art for this didn’t wow me, the sculpt is jaw-dropping. And not just because you know the ribbon wings are going to be entirely clear PVC. Just look at her twintails! I didn’t think it was possible to get them so detailed. We’ve come a long, long way from their original Miku figure. [via kahotan’s twitter]

  • We sure have been getting a lot of Miku-related news recently! Given that it’s her 10th anniversary I suppose that’s not entirely surprising. She’s managed to be the It Girl of the figure world for a decade, which is a basically unsurpassed accomplishment. So, of course, in 2018 we are going to get a lot of Miku merch. Like the Magical Mirai Nendoroid, and this 10th anniversary edition! This one is quite similar to her original Nendoroid, with an updated sculpt and color palette: I love how the rainbow hues are all throughout this figure, from the ribbon wings to the ribbons in her hair to the shine on her outfit. It seems like a lot of thought went into this one. Order open tonight! [via Kahotan]
