@GeekeryDo: @mikeyturvey I agree with you. I stopped reading them because I got tired of it, though @Sir_Narwhal is correct that it's normal for comics.

@GeekeryDo: @Sir_Narwhal @mikeyturvey yeh but that's just one arc and it's easy to read it all since, as you said, it's been put together like that.

@NFern0: @Sir_Narwhal Sounds like (ohoho) specialist equipment. Black Friday is more mass consumer oriented isn't it?

Pretty much any popular It Girl who leads toward the ecchi genre is going to get a few animal versions. We’ve seen it a whole lot with characters like Kanu and Tamaki, so of course Nitro+’s Super Soniko is following the trend: we’ve already got cat and bunny versions of her! But this is… something else. I mean, when you think “girl in cute/sexy animal costume” your mind doesn’t really jump to mouse, does it? Unless you’re Tsuji Santa, the main illustrator behind this pink-haired dynamo.
Stephen was on the fence when we first saw the sculpt and I flat-out disliked her, but they’ve added something totally amazing: a huge hunk of cheese. That’s right, she’s literally laying in cheese. Giant, PVC cheese. I can’t even… the puns. It’s too much. Good job, Wing, you win this round.

Is this real life, is this just fantasy? Caught in a landslide, no escape from giant purple dildo weapons…
So. Wing has a new mysterious figure teaser. That looks very, very, very much like the Saint’s Row logo. And by very very similar I mean that fleur de lis is identical. But then logic kicks in and you’re like naaaw no way that can’t be real what is happening this is shaking the foundation of my figure-built world. But… there it is. Taunting us. Promising a Winter Wonder Festival 2014 reveal.
Remember that Wing has worked with Rockin’ Jelly Bean, who is known for strange comic art, so doing something this off the wall and outrageous wouldn’t be that out of the blue for them. I mean, it’s crazy…. but it just might happen…

I was not a big fan of Wing’s first Fiona–the floating water balloon boobs were just not for me. And even without that, I don’t think the sculpt held up to scrutiny. Which is a shame because I really love her color scheme: nice and muted, and how often do you see olive and purple together on a figure? But thankfully they announced a second version of her illustrated by Shunya Yamashita!
I was already sold when we saw the sculpt, but the colored shots were just amazing! Of course you always want to see images that aren’t from the manufacturer, and we’re getting a lovely gallery of her color sample. But if the two versions of her on the market aren’t doing it for you don’t worry, there’s a third in the works!

For a while now, I’ve been pleading with the figure gods to pick up Primal Heart’s Pajama Saber garage kit and make her into PVC so I could own this impossibly cute version of Arturia. At Wonder Fetstival we found out my dreams were coming true–though oddly enough this time around it would be Wing taking on their work! Which is strange indeed because their Saber Lily kit was picked up by Alter.
But after seeing these promo pictures of the completed Pajama Saber I’m pretty confident in Wing. I mean, she looks perfect! I was a bit annoyed at first that Alter had passed her up (or whatever happened backstage), but oh my god so cute I need her right now! Orders start today, and sadly she comes out in dreaded December.

Wing may be a smaller company, but they put a lot of effort into each figure (usually…). But for a company that’s only about 2 years old, they are doing a pretty amazing job! They don’t have much out of what we saw in their teasers: and from that, only one thing (other than Leafa, who we already saw), is sculpted: the new Meiko, who I get a “I shouldn’t want this at all but somehow I do” vibe from. Like… why should I want this? But the sculpt is so good! Shiny latex! Pretty!
We also have the art for Child Soniko (SO CUTE GOOD LORD) which should please people who like her but don’t want a sexualized figure, as well as the art for Muramasa which looks fantastic. Then we have the header figure: Purple Heart. I’m thrilled we’re getting more figures from Neptunia… not so thrilled with the face. Oh and surprise surprise, they might be manufacturing Pajama Saber! Weird, right?

I thought it was a little weird that Good Smile Company took so long to jump on the Sword Art Online license. I mean, the show is so damn popular and figures of the characters just fly off the shelves! Well… turns out they wanted to just throw like a million friggin figures in our face at once. I mean seriously, what the hell. What. The. Hell.
*Deep Breath* We’ve got THREE Asunas. The painted one is from FREEing, the sitting one is from Max Factory, and the standing one is from Good Smile Company. The Leafa at the far right is Penguin Parade and the second one is from Wing. Then we’ve got a Silica and Suguha Kiriyaga from FREEing. Phew! But all that and no Kirito?

It’s that time again–Wonder Festival teaser time! Wing is first up to bat, which I never would have guessed. Kotobukiya usually steps up to the plate first, and has two sets of teasers, but I guess Wing is just super excited about the event. But I would be too, if I had one of these announcements! Let’s get the kind of dull stuff out of the way first: they have two figures from Kangoku Gakuen, a second Meiko Shiraki to go with the first who seems to be crouching seductively and a figure of Hana Midorikawa.
Then we have Leafa from Sword Art Online! I have been dying for a figure of her, so this is super exciting. I think she has the best character design from the show and I’m shocked more manufacturers haven’t taken advantage of this, so it’s great to finally see a figure. From the tiny teaser the pose looks dynamic, so my hopes are high!

Mice are usually seen as unwanted house guests that come in and mess stuff up, but that doesn’t seem to be the case with Soniko here! Earlier today we told you about a bunch of new Soniko figures headed our way and tonight we have pictures of one of them, Wing’s Mouse Soniko figure. I’ve always liked the original artwork that this piece is based on as it seems so cute and playful that she’s eating food with mouse ears on, but it seems Wing has changed the pose a tad so that instead of having her laying down she’s now kneeling.
Personally, I kind of mind this change as laying down figures are few and far between and it would’ve been more unique but what we have here isn’t bad, though, just different. We also get a shot of her assets, if you catch my drift, and she looks rather well sculpted and doesn’t go into the super unrealistic proportions category. Either way, this is one rodent I wouldn’t mind invading my house.

One of the best things about Wonder Festival is the anticipation. It’s like Christmas: what will be under the tree this year? Nitro+ thinks this is totally silly for some reason, and announces all the figures from their licenses well before the event. Booo! To no one’s surprise we are getting TONS of Soniko–but only from two companies, Wing and FREEIng. Wing will have two–a child version (whut) and a mouse version. I’m not sure if they mean mouse as in the animal or mouse as in based on one of her mousepads.
FREEing will also have two versions of her: a recolor of their 1/4 scale Bunny Soniko and… a yukata Soniko, which I have been waiting for FOREVER. Hopefully it’s based on the header art! As for the other Nitro+ licenses, we’ve got a figure of Muramasa from Wing which makes me very happy since I adore my MF version, and FREEing is taking on Soniko’s other bandmates: Suzu Fujimi and Fuuri Watanuki, both of whom will be in yukatas.

This year at Anime Expo, Good Smile Company made it clear that they are going all out with their attempt to expand their overseas presence. Not only did they have two exclusive Nendoroids at the event (which are up for order on their online store right now!), but they actually showed off a figure painted for the first time! Of course it was figma Okarin who went up for order like a day later, but hey, it’s great that the US is getting more PVC goodies!
Of course they had tons of other figures like Maiko Madoka, Wing’s Devil Cheerleader (omg those nipples, I’m dying), Deep Sea Miku and a whole lot more. I’m seriously impressed at the amount of prototypes they brought over, it almost rivals the amazing Nendoroid display at NYCC. So what are you waiting for, check them all out in the gallery!
