Winter Wonder Festival 2014 Archive

  • We’ve already seen the scaled figures Pulchra has planned and in the works from Kantai Collection, but that’s not all they have planned from the series! I mean, you need cute merchandise to balance out the figure spanning, right? Well they have just the thing! Adorable little phone stands featuring Shimakaze, Naka, Yamato, Zuiho, and Akagi. Usually I don’t go for this type of thing, but that Shimakaze… [via Figure/GK]

  • Last night I had a dream that Embrace Japan, sensing how displeased I was with Native’s WonFest booth, descended from the heavens and delivered the most amazingly perfect ecchi catgirl figure ever to me. Just kidding, that was real life! They have a new figure to add to their Planet of the Cats/Neko no Wakusei line, and it is PERFECTION. The ruffles, my god. They actually had a LOT this Wonder Festival, including figures of Sol Badguy from Guilty Gear, Kotaro Kazama from Yatagarasu Attack on Cataclysm, and Black Hood Benoa–an original character based on the art of Soushi Hirose. And then… we get to W.G.S.I, aka World Girls Soldier Inamura. I have no idea what W.G.S.I is, but it is 1) not the same as the Waterloo Global Science Initiative and 2) apparently involves girls humping weapons. There’s a painted figure of Hana Inamura, a sculpt of Ramunai II, and a ton of chibis. Oh Japan, you’re so crazy. [via Figure/GK]

  • Ah, Lechery. Much like the G train, we can always rely on them to bring us something truly and magnificently horrible. Usually it’s just hilarious, like the recolor of “My shoe is a phone!” Cinderella they took to WonFest, or their “sexy teacher” and uh… maid in a bathtub who is fully clothed. But sometimes, it’s just… it’s bad. Brace yourself before checking out the gallery, because their Milking Girl is the strangest and most terrifying (adult) figure I’ve ever seen that hasn’t come from Giga Pulse. Actually, this might as well be Giga Pulse. I just… I don’t even understand. Why would anyone want to own this?! Then again, that is a question I’d prefer to be left unanswered. [via moeyo]

  • FREEing had so many yukata figures at Wonder Festival that we literally couldn’t fit them all in one post. It has absolutely nothing to do with this picture coming out later than the others, nope. Soniko’s boobs are just too big to be contained by a single gallery. Actually… it’s really her friend that’s having problems in that department, isn’t it? As they announced at last WonFest, FREEing is doing the whole Axanel crew: Soniko, Suzu Fujimi, and the almost Pochaco-like Fuuri Watanuki. Oh god, we’re going to get a yukata Pochaco next, aren’t we? [via Akibahobby’s Flickr]

  • To me, there is no such thing as “too many Asuka figures.” How is that even possible? It’s like saying there are too many ice cream flavors. The more variety the better, and my Asuka army is ever growing. There weren’t that many figures of her at WonFest, but we did get Alter’s take and then this beauty–which is a bit of a curse given that it’s Volks. And, you know… Volks stopped making PVC. That’s right, this lovely sculpt is a CharaGumin. WHY VOLKS? Whyyyyy? Now I’m going to have to spend and arm and a leg and get someone to paint this for me because I can’t not own it. Oh, and there’s going to be a matching Mari. Sigh, eating ramen every night to afford figures, here we come. [via Animate]

  • Ikkitousen used to be everywhere, an inescapable force in the figure world that even major companies like Alter latched onto. Nowadays figures from the series are a rare breed, with really only the occasional recolor from Griffon. And while Ikkitousen is usually a pile of tacky crap, occasionally it did produce some lovely figures. Well, it seems like Dragon Toy (a company with connections to both Daiki Kougyou and FREEing), has picked on the mantle and are bringing us a rather gorgeous rendition of Sonsaku Hakufu. I mean, I could do without the boob escaping from her shirt, but her face is gorgeous and she’s so tall and willowy. But, you know, will probably cost $200 and isn’t exactly ready for living room display. [via 2chan]

  • Ah, Amakuni. You make such nice figures but they are so expensive. And my wallet is in tears, because I’m in love with their Wonder Festival booth! First we have their Muramasa, who looks friggin fantastic. Realistic boob physics, rejoice! Then we’ve got a Grizzry Panda sculpt of Hajime Kunihiro from Saki Zenkoku-hen who is too cute for words. The only one of their sculpted figures I’m not pumped for is Haruka Niimi from Photokanon: even with the bunny ears, her design is just dull. Then we’ve got an announcement for Maou from Maoyuu Maou Yuusha. So far her crazy bust has turned me off most of her figures, but the art here is SO CUTE! Overalls, aww. [via moeyo]

  • You can expect the Seven Deadly Sins line to pop up at pretty much every major event, usually with only one or two updates… but some news is better than no news! This time around we’re actually getting a pretty major change, for once: Orchid Seed’s Satan is finally painted! She and Lucifer are my favorites from the line, so I’m thrilled to see her finished (and looking stunning, of course). Then we’ve got a not so exciting update: remember that terrible Leviathan recolor? Well, that won’t be the only sinner getting redone! They have a horrifying white Asmodeus on display. Barf. Why?! There are so many possibilities: black and bright red with pale hair, perhaps? Or a berry-purple and a cool toned purple color scheme? But no. White. WHYYYY. [via Figure/GK]

  • Given all the trouble AmiAmi Zero has had with their Houki Shinonono, I’m kind of shocked that they are going to continue on with the production of their Infinite Stratos line. In case you’ve forgotten, their Houki was supposed to come out in August of 2013, and has been delayed over and over again. Currently she’s slated for May, but at this point I’d be shocked if she came out at all (given that her orders opened July 2012!) But they’re trudging on with Cecilia, who we saw sculpted last summer. Her paint looks great, and this line has so much promise… if only AmiAmi would actually release it. [via Figure/GK]

  • It’s been a long, long time since we’ve seen any figures from Taimanin Asagi. In fact, the only major release from the ergoe was way back in 2009! It seems like Milestone, a small company even if you are being overly generous, has decided to breathe some new life into it though with a surprisingly awesome rendition of the main heroine. It’s way more dynamic than her previous figure, and should please fans of the series. [via Akibahobby]
