Wonder Woman Archive

  • Finally, it has happened. We’ve know about Kotobukiya’s Ikemen line for a while, and in fact Nightwing has been finished for quite some time, but I have been counting down the hours until I got to see him in person. And it was glorious. Just look at that butt! They didn’t even neglect the bulge ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°) I am all about equal opportunity sexy figures. Oh, they had more than Nightwing in their DC section, though! A lot, actually. The star for me was the huge ArtFX Wonder Woman who is just… so beautiful. Dead-on likeness for Gal. They also had a ton of ArtFX+ figures, both the Justice League line and the TV show line. And many Bishoujos, of course! Hit the jump to see them all in action.

  • I remember the dark times when Good Smile Company didn’t come to US events. Thankfully those days are over, because their booth is usually the toy highlight of any convention! And they really brought it for NYCC this year with not one but two separate booth displays. They had a lot of brand-new goodies, like the Anniversary Miku (look at that hair!!), figma Genji, and the sculpt for the Breath of the Wild Guardian Nendoroid. It’s always nice to be able to see figures in person, it’s quite a different experience–for example, I wasn’t really sold on Marie Rose’s colors at all when the promotional shots came out, but I was totally won over when I finally got to see her. She might be coming to my pre-order list!

  • Prize figures have always been appealing: you get a cheap version of a popular character, often in an outfit that we’d never see in scales. Plus, the quality gets better and better on them every year. With rising scaled figure prices and a worsening exchange rate, prize figures are looking better than ever, so it’s a good thing the upcoming lineup of them seems amazing! We have all the regulars out and about: Evangelion, Kantai Collection, Sword Art Online, Fate/Grand Order, Bakemonogatari, Miku, Lupin, and many many more. The noodle topper ones really seem to be taking the prize world by storm: I have a few and can vouch for how amazingly fun they are to display all sorts of odd ways. Any of them catch your eye? • Every Wonder Festival I think to myself “there can’t possibly be even more Nendoroids at the next WonFest.” Then, like magic, the Nendo Creep happens and we get at least 5-10 more than last year at the next event. It’s a plague, a really cute plastic plague. I think they’re multiplying on their own at this point. This year we have a bounty of Nendos, so let’s get into it. We’ve got Ariel, Astolfo, Mordred, Lina Inverse, Yumeko Jabami from Kakegurui, Elf Yamada from Eromanga Sensei, Portal 2, KanColle, Meitantei Conan, Beatrice from Re;Zero, Wonder Woman, Overwatch, Mega Man, The Snack World, Sword Art Online, Fullmetal Alchemist, and so much more. They are all named in the gallery below for your viewing pleasure. And don’t forget we’ve already seen Nendos from Orange Rouge, Pokemon, Breath of the Wild, and Vocaloid! Which one are you looking forward to the most? [via the Wonderful Hobby Life For You site and King Junker’s Twitter]

  • I think at this point we’ve all seen and loved Wonder Woman (a surprise, given the recent direction of the DCCU), and we also expect quite a bit of merchandise from it. Considering that we got Batman & Super Man in Nendoroid form from Good Smile Company, Wondy was sure to follow right? And, of course, she is! And looking really cute to boot. I know this is a lot to ask, but I am really hoping she comes with that amazing fur-lined cape. Or maybe an alternate edition of Diana in her beautiful suit? Honestly I would buy every version of her. Literally every movie outfit. Heck, give us Etta, too! [via kahotan’s Twitter]

  • I’ve never really understood the ‘Marvel vs DC’ mentality (don’t most comic fans read them both?) but if I was absolutely forced to pick I would be on Team DC. Because I’m basic as heck and I love Batman. So sue me! And, of course, I love me a good DC figure. Like the new Katana art they had out! Kotobukiya had quite a few DC figures on display at Toy Fair, like the huge 1/6 scale Justice League (well, at least Batman/Superman/Flash/Wonder Woman/Green Lantern). And Bishoujos Harley Quinn, Wonder Girl, the Killing Joke statue (which is getting a re-release), the Villains line in all their evil glory, and some of the classic cartoony ArtFX+.

  • We got some very exciting DC-related announcements at Kotobukiya’s panel (Bishoujo Katana and the TV show teasers). But given how massive their DC lines are, it’s no surprise that there was a ton more! Like the affordable retro Super Powers figures, their villains ArtFX+ line (including the brand-new Harley Quinn–and a new sculpt for Black Manta), and their ArtFX statues. We also got a little more info about the Ikemen line. It was a pretty big deal when announced, and they discussed how happy fan response has been along with the potential of the line. If the Bat-Boys sell well enough, they will definitely be continuing with other characters!

  • Sometimes I think that basically all of DC’s characters are iconic, then I remember characters like Rainbow Girl and think, “yeah, maybe not so much.” So of course their Icons line has everyone you would expect: Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, Swamp Thing, and even some villains like the Joker (of course!). Some of them seem a little less, um, iconic (Firestorm, really?), but the lineup looks great so far–if you like male heroes. Not many girls here, it seems.

  • You know what we need? More Batman Vs Superman figures. There’s definitely not enough of them on the market right now. But actually, jokes aside, most of what we’ve seen has been in statue form–there’s not a ton of action figures of them out there. Of course DC couldn’t just stand by and let that happen, so they’re adding them to their action figure line! Which has all sorts of new features like increased poseability and details. They’re kind of like mini Hot Toys, really! And it’ll include characters from many of their movies both new and old. Check ’em all out in the gallery.

  • With Batman Vs Superman on the horizon, we’re seeing figures from it from just about everyone. Heck, we even have them in Nendoroid form! And of course DC themselves will be bringing the heat as well with a statue line. We’ve got, of course, Wonder Woman, Superman, and two Batmans (armored and unarmored). More proof that Batman is truly the best superhero. I also have to admit that for a second there I thought Wondy was wearing denim short shorts–thankfully this is not the case.
