  • The Kantai Collection Nendoroids are coming out at a rather insane pace: we get more than one a month, and at this rate maybe they’ll actually power through the whole (anime) cast. Because there’s no way we’re getting all the game ship-girls. Personally, I want more bad girls (Northern Princess GSC, please), but Yamato is one of my favorite non-evil ships. I mean, I think she’s everyone’s… it’s the hair and umbrella, I think. SO CUTE. And, of course, her Nendoroid is absolutely massive: she comes with more weapon/ship/effect parts than any figure actually needs. But given what we usually see, it’s nice to see Good Smile going overboard for once. Yamato comes with non-battle/ship parts too: her parasol, a bottle of ramune, and some omelette rice. Plus parts to turn her into Yamato Kai! Though I have to admit, Kahotan’s sleaze is getting out of control: “I’m sure most eyes jumped right to her chest first.” Yes, because we’re all hopelessly attracted to tiny, deformed Nendo breasts. You got us. SIGH. Please tone it down, girl. Yamato goes up for order tonight, and orders from the GSC shop get a special stand: thank god they didn’t have her Kai parts or the embarrassed face as an exclusive, because she’s already going to cost an arm and a leg. • Once again, it’s time to look at blurry video screencaps of Good Smile Company & Co’s newest figures! How exciting, right? Actually, I’m usually kind of bored by the lineup in these broadcasts but this month was definitely a highlight for me… and because of the figmas! Crazy right? I order like 3 figmas a year, so the fact that I want 2 of the 3 ones shown off surprised even me. They gave us a peek at the Rin Tohsaka 2.0 figma and the MC of Persona 4. And yeah, of course I want both of them! They look fantastic–especially Rin’s extra faces. Then there’s… figma Bruce Lee. So strange. There were no scaled figures this time, but a whole lot of Nendoroids. Patchouli‘s sculpt was shown off briefly, and we got extended looks at the massive Yamato and Angela Balzac, whose popularity is really peaking at the moment. Check them all out in the gallery! • Did you know that we are almost up to Nendoroid 500? Man, it seems like yesterday we were celebrating 300. Time sure does fly! In celebration of this, Good Smile brought every single Nendoroid to Anime Japan. Yes, you read that right. They’re all there in a huge spiral ramp, leading to the top… and number 500?! Well, that hasn’t been revealed yet, but we do know 499 now: Sakura Mikudayo. Yeah, it’s not just an April Fools joke anymore. They had some new Nendoroids on hand too! Mainly Kantai Collection girls: Yamato and Ryuujou. Doma Umaru also made an appearance, though not painted yet. That is one Nendo I definitely can’t wait for! So, Plastikitties, any guesses on who will be lucky number 500? I mean… it’s probably Miku or Saber. Or Saber cosplaying as Miku. Oh my god, can you even imagine? Wait, just kidding, that “new” Sakura Miku is 500. Haha, I didn’t even remember she existed! WHY GSC? WHY? Also, how is 499 coming AFTER her. I can’t. [via AmiAmi’s Twitter, Kahotan, Kujimap]

  • Nendoroids. They’re kind of like bunnies now; you put two in a room and bam, you’ve got like a thousand before you know it, and this year’s Wonder Festival was no different. Good Smile Company and it’s umbrella of companies had over 40 new Nendoroids on hand at this show. Remember when it took them like two years to hit 40 Nendoroids? Yeah, it’s been a while… We’ve already shown you the Majora’s Mask 3D Link, Kirby, and Marth and Sheeda from Fire Emblem, but that was certainly nowhere near all that was on hand. We got to finally see the sculpted and painted version of their Stormtrooper, Celty from Durarara! looks great, and a second Mako from Kill la Kill that is utterly adorable. Then we’ve got Oono Akira from Hiscore Girl, Moritomo Nozomi from The Rolling Girls, Alice Cartelet from Kiniro Mosaic, Patchouli Knowledge from Touhou, Angela Balzac from Rakuen Tsuihou: Expelled From Paradise, Kaffu Chino and Tippy from Gochuumon wa Usagi Desu ka?, a Senbonzakura version Kaito, Beni and Koujaku from DRAMAtical Murder, Eclair Martinozzi from Dog Days”, Kazami Kazuki from Grisaia no Kajitsu, Itsuka Kotori from Date A Live, Hoozuki from Hoozuki no Reitetsu, Yuuki Yuuna (who seems to be everywhere this WonFest), Emiya Shirou from Fate Stay/Night Unlimited Blade Works, Umaru from Umaruchan, and Shiren from Shiren 5+. Over in idol land we’ve got three new iDOLM@STER Cinderalla Girls with Shibuya Rin who is painted, Shimamura Uzuki who is sculpted, and Honda Mio who was announced. We’ve also got SIX new Nendoroids from PriPara with Manaka Lala, Minami Mirei, and Houjou Sophie all painted, a sculpt of Toudou Shion, and announcements of Dorothy and Leona West. Phew! There are also three Nendoroid Code figures (seems to be non-poseable Nendoroids?) of Manaka Lala, Minami Mirei, and Houjou Sophie. Then in magical ship girl land, aka Kantai Collection, we only have five new additions: sculpts of Yamato and Ryuujo and announcements of Northern Princess (Leah’s favorite!), Ooyodo, and our bumbling idiot misfit star of the anime, Fubuki. From IS: Infinite Stratos we’re getting some new additions with Laura Bodewig and Charlotte Dunois, who are both quite cute. We also have three new Nendoroids from Touken Ranbu with Mikazuki Munechika sculpted and announcements for Kashuu Kiyomitsu and Kogitsunemaru. We also have a Nendoroid More announcement of cheerleader outfits, which are pretty adorable. That’s a lot of little Nendoroids… [via Wonderful Hobby Life For You]

  • The kits on display & for sale at Wonder Festival usually reflect bigger trends in the PVC market. So, of course, there’s a veritable shipload of Kantai Collection girls at this Winter Wonder Festival. Like, a lot. I don’t know if I’ve ever seen this many kits for one show/game, even when everyone was popping out Madoka figures. It’s kind of overwhelming–so we’ve separated them out of the garage kit roundup so they can have their own cluster-ship post. There’s a little something for everyone here: chibi Wo-Class, amazingly tacky Wo-Class, normal Wo-Class. And, you know, some figures that aren’t Wo-Class. I’m really happy to see the bad girls getting more attention, like the adorable Northern Princess! So cute. And of course there are tons of good girls, including not nearly as many Shimakazes as I expected. Check them all out in the gallery! • Kantai Collection figures are already on the “oh dear lord my wallet” side of expensive, but apparently A+ sees that as nothing but a challenge. ¥18,000 for Max Factory’s Yamato Kai? Haha, nice try, how about ¥85,000? No, that is not a typo. It’s the actual price for two new A+ figures, one of Yamato Kai and one of Musashi Kai. So what do you get for all that money? Well, they’re 1/4.5 scale. Not even 1/4, 1/4.5. Yup, that’s about the only bonus: quality was clearly not the aim here. Those faces, ouch. But if you’re the biggest KanColle fan ever (and very wealthy), how do you get them? Well, joke’s on you, these are Winter Wonder Festival exclusives! Meaning you need a proxy. Cause almost $800 isn’t enough, we need proxy fees too. And the shipping, that’s gonna cost you. But seriously, is this a joke? Are they honestly serious? So funny. So sad. [via A+’s Blog]

  • The company formerly known as Yamato really went downhill when they switched over to being Arcadia–lower quality and some very odd figure choices have plagued them. But we saw that Flare, a new company that has affiliations with Alter, picked up a figure by one of Yamato’s favorite sculptors: the Cerberus Project Elin! Seems like that won’t be the only Arcadia mess they save. Remember their Bayonetta figure from ages ago? Well, Flare is taking over and will be producing this figure for us! How exciting, especially since I missed out on Phat!’s Bayonetta. I can’t wait to see what they work on next! [via Platinum Games]

  • I love the designs of the Kantai Collection girls, but the prices on Max Factory’s pieces–like Kongou and and 1-58— were so high I didn’t even think of ordering them. Which makes me very sad, because Kongou is SO PRETTY. But thankfully, they have come up with a solution for those of us left behind… or at least for one figure. Their gorgeous Yamato Kai will come in two varieties. The less expensive option is the ‘Light Armament Version’ that comes without her ship parts or the water effect, and retails for a low ¥11,000. Yes, that’s “low” for this line! The ‘Heavy Armament Version’ is ¥18333 (OUCH) and comes with the ship parts & water effect. I actually prefer the slimmed down one–so much easier to display! It’s one of the smaller seasonal events, and it seems like roughly two thirds of the figures brought there are from KanColle. And I’m only exaggerating a tiny bit. We’ve got Good Smile Company, Max Factory, Amakuni, Bandai, Penguin Parade, FREEing, ques Q, Griffon, Azone and Phat! Company bringing us pretty much every type of figure you can imagine. Nendoroids, figmas, dolls, scaled figures, prize figures, lolis, hilariously busty ladies. If you want it, it’s probably here. Check them all out in the gallery below! [via moeyo, Radio Kaikan]
