It’s that time again–time for another batch of exclusive Touhou recolors from Griffon! As always there’s a few hits but mostly misses, though I must say this time around there are quite a few hits at least for me. Most of these recolors, as always, have been seen at past events but five of them are new–we’ve got a black recolor of the new Sakuya, a red & blue recolor of Parsee, a mocha recolor of loli Yukari, a paler version of the newest Flandre and a purple Tenshi.
Of these, I actually would love to own three of them–especially mocha Yukari and black Sakuya! And oh man that purple Tenshi is to die for. Not to mention the rose & black Kasen, who was announced previously though this will be her first release. Griffon used to be known for painfully bad recolors but it seems they are trying a lot harder recently! The event will take place on May 27th if you happen to be in Japan and are interested in some lovely recolors!

Ah, time for more exclusives. We’ve already seen offerings from Good Smile Company and ques Q along with Sega, so who will we find in these scans? Well, a heck of a lot! Let’s dive right in with Kurushima’s crazy expensive (and crazily posed) Kanu, who will be getting a special uhh different somehow colorway for WonFest. Then we have Orchid Seed’s garage kits: the 1/5 swimsuit Soniko, Princess Milk, and Alleyne! This is a good indication that all 3 will be painted at the event. Then we have ques Q, but we’ve seen their offerings already!
Griffon has, of course, a buttload of recolors featuring their Monster Hunter Sena & Yozora in blue, a darker Youmu Konpaku, Murasa Minamitsu, Yukari Yakumo, Fujiwara no Mokou, Iku Nagae, and Keine Kamishirasawa. Phew, that’s a whole lot! Then there’s Volks who will be bringing back their 1/4 scale KOS-MOS along with garage kits of Alice from Walkure Romanze, Tamami Koshikawa from Hanairo Heptagram, their lovely Asuna, and Yukari Akiyama from Girls und Panzer.

Griffon is the reigning king of recolors, so it’s no surprise that they are bringing one to the Gataket125 event, taking place on November 25th. It’s an alternate version of one of my favorite of their sculpts, Curiosities of Lotus Asia Yukari–aka loli Yukari! She’s just so darn cute.
However, the color swap here is pretty minimal, her purple dress has been changed to a kind of pale blue. Not much of a big deal, you’d have to be a really big Yukari fan to go for this one! She’ll retail for ¥8,500, though if she is anything like the other Touhou recolors she will be for around that or less on the after-market.

Apparently today is Custom Figure day here on Plastikitty: we already had those nifty Persona figmas along with a recolor of Yukata Miku, and now it’s time for Touhou! Unlike the Touhou Nendoroid line, the Touhou figma line has been basically neglected and we only have 5 girls: Marisa, Reimu, Sakuya, Suika and Aya. Of course there are well over a hundred girls in reality, and it’s no surprise that customizers have gotten to work on the rest of them. Well, some of the rest of them. We’ve got Flandre, Remilia, Nitori, Youmu, Nazrin, Yukari, and a whole lot more, so check them all out after the jump!

Griffon’s lineup for the rest of 2012 seems to rely very heavily on re-releases. In fact, it has gotten to the point where I really didn’t think they would put up anything new until 2013! Well, it seems that I am thankfully wrong, and after a long hiatus they are finally adding some new blood to their Touhou Project line. The first is the loli Curiosities of Lotus Asia version Yukari Yakumo, first shown off back in July. I absolutely LOVE this version of her, and while she retails for a pricey ¥8,500 with a November release there’s no way I can pass her up. Like all Touhou figures she’s an exclusive, but is up at AmiAmi.
The second figure is a 2nd version of Iku Nagae (called the “Dragonfish Drill”), revealed at Wonder Festival. I do like the drill-scarf, but I wasn’t a fan of the first Iku and this one doesn’t really do anything for me either. Surprisingly, she’s cheaper than Yukari at ¥8,200 and will also be released in November. You can pre-order her at AmiAmi.

Griffon’s main focus at most events is Touhou Project, but they actually had a lot of anime-based merchandise at Wonder Festival this time! However, let’s start with Touhou since that seems to be where they put most of their efforts. Their loli Yukari is sculpted, and I am excited to see her done–I love Yukari and this is a fun alternate take! Surprisingly, only one other Touhou girl was there: a second version of Iku Nage. I thought the first version was a bit meh, so it’s nice to see a better sculpt.
Unsurprisingly, there was a new Kanu at the event, along with a recolor of Cattleya. A few of the Treasure Festa figures saw some progress: samurai Sasara is finally sculpted, as is their Mei Misaka. Is it just me, or does Mei look a LOT better than the average Griffon figure? Ichika is sculpted as well, though Asunsa from Sword Art Online seems to still be a work in progress. The best announcement for me was their Boku wa Tomodachi girls: they’re taking on Sena and Yozora, but in monster hunter outfits! Yozora is sculpted while Sena is still in art form, but I have high hopes for the duo.

Welcome to the week of re-releases! We’ve got 4 this week: two Touhou girls, a casual cutie, and one of the best figures of all time! Of course there are also new releases, though they might be a bit overshadowed. We’ve got quite a few game-based figures from series like Persona and ‘Tales of’ along with not one, not two, but three Bakemonogatari girls! So hit the jump to check them all out.

At Reitaisai 9, Griffon announced a few new Touhou Project girls. Not really a surprise, since their main focus at any event is on that line. The new announcements seem to be sculpted already, ahead of several figures that are still in art-form! The 1/8 scale Gungir Remilia Scarlet in fact is already painted. It’s not a version of her that really calls out to me, since I already have a figure of her that I really like and this one seems kind of similar to the ques Q Remilia. Komachi Onozuka is also sculpted, and looks pretty fantastic: of course I’ll have to see her painted before I make a decision, but right now this is definitely looking like a “yes.” They also showed off “finished” art for Parsee Mizuhashi and Minamitsu Murasa. Parsee looks great if they can pull off that angry face (which is a big if given their history). Minamitsu has a cool nautical theme going on, but that really isn’t my thing.
Of course there was also a new announcement–a Curiosities of Lotus Asia version of Yukari Yakumo! AKA loli Yukari, since she looks much younger in this version. I can never get enough Yukari, and she looks SO adorable here! But for those wondering, we still haven’t seen Mystial Lorelei. I kind of wish they’d slow down for a bit and work on her.

Touhou Project is already full of adorable girls, but of course you can never have too much cute, so Penguin Parade & Algernon Product have amped up the moe factor by adding them to their Petanko line. Aka the line where everyone is an adorable loli! Two “volumes” (aka sets) are getting released at once, so let’s start with Volume 2. It includes Satori Komeji, Koishi Komeji, Patchouli Knowledge, Kaguya Houraisan, Yuyuko Saigyouji Yuka Kazami, Aya Shameimaru, Reimu Hakurei, and Cirno, as well as a secret release. And if you buy a set on AmiAmi you get a bonus Sakuya Izayoi! A case of these rubber straps doesn’t come cheap though, retailing at ¥5,780 a pop with a September release date. At least you get all ten!
Volume 3 comes with Yukari Yakumo, Ran Yakumo, Chen, Suika Ibuki, Hanaoogi Ibaraki, Suwako Moriya, Tensh Hinanai, Marisa Kirisame, Youmu Konpaku, and a secret figure, as well as the AmiAmi bonus Nofuto Mononobe. It retails for the same price as Volume 2 on AmiAmi with a November release date. This set contains almost all of my favorite Touhou girls (Yukari, Ran, Chen, Suika, Marisa & Tenshi) and Volume 2 contains pretty much the rest of them (Cirno, Aya, Sakuya) so this is pretty tempting despite the high price!
