As always there’s a few hits but mostly misses, though I must say this time around there are quite a few hits at least for me. Most of these recolors, as always, have been seen at past events but five of them are new–we’ve got a black recolor of the new Sakuya, a red & blue recolor of Parsee, a mocha recolor of loli Yukari, a paler version of the newest Flandre and a purple Tenshi.

Of these, I actually would love to own three of them–especially mocha Yukari and black Sakuya! Griffon Is Bringing A Yukari Yakumo Recolor To Gataket124

Griffon is the reigning king of recolors, so it’s no surprise that they are bringing one to the Gataket125 event, taking place on November 25th. It’s an alternate version of one of my favorite of their sculpts, Curiosities of Lotus Asia Yukari–aka loli Yukari! She’s just so darn cute.

However, the color swap here is pretty minimal, her purple dress has been changed to a kind of pale blue. Not much of a big deal, you’d have to be a really big Yukari fan to go for this one! In fact, it has gotten to the point where I really didn’t think they would put up anything new until 2013! Well, it seems that I am thankfully wrong, and after a long hiatus they are finally adding some new blood to their Touhou Project line. The first is the loli Curiosities of Lotus Asia version Yukari Yakumo, first shown off back in July. I absolutely LOVE this version of her, and while she retails for a pricey ¥8,500 with a November release there’s no way I can pass her up. Like all Touhou figures she’s an exclusive, but is up at AmiAmi.

The second figure is a 2nd version of Iku Nagae (called the “Dragonfish Drill”), revealed at Wonder Festival. I do like the drill-scarf, but I wasn’t a fan of the first Iku and this one doesn’t really do anything for me either. Surprisingly, she’s cheaper than Yukari at ¥8,200 and will also be released in November. You can pre-order her at AmiAmi.

A few of the Treasure Festa figures saw some progress: samurai Sasara is finally sculpted, as is their Mei Misaka. Is it just me, or does Mei look a LOT better than the average Griffon figure? Ichika is sculpted as well, though Asunsa from Sword Art Online seems to still be a work in progress. The best announcement for me was their Boku wa Tomodachi girls: they’re taking on Sena and Yozora, but in monster hunter outfits! The 1/8 scale Gungir Remilia Scarlet in fact is already painted. It’s not a version of her that really calls out to me, since I already have a figure of her that I really like and this one seems kind of similar to the ques Q Remilia. Komachi Onozuka is also sculpted, and looks pretty fantastic: of course I’ll have to see her painted before I make a decision, but right now this is definitely looking like a “yes.” They also showed off “finished” art for Parsee Mizuhashi and Minamitsu Murasa. Parsee looks great if they can pull off that angry face (which is a big if given their history). Minamitsu has a cool nautical theme going on, but that really isn’t my thing.

Of course there was also a new announcement–a Curiosities of Lotus Asia version of Yukari Yakumo!
