@GeekeryDo: @mikeyturvey I agree with you. I stopped reading them because I got tired of it, though @Sir_Narwhal is correct that it's normal for comics.

@GeekeryDo: @Sir_Narwhal @mikeyturvey yeh but that's just one arc and it's easy to read it all since, as you said, it's been put together like that.

@NFern0: @Sir_Narwhal Sounds like (ohoho) specialist equipment. Black Friday is more mass consumer oriented isn't it?

Yuuka Kazami Archive

Good Smile Company has been working on the Touhou Project Nendoroids for a while now, at a rate of about 2 releases this year. Which means it will take roughly a millennium to get through the entire cast! So of course fans have taken it into their own hands to make customs: there have been quite a few, but this is the first version of Yuuka I have seen so far! This custom of her is lovely, capturing both her cuteness and her slightly psycho side.
Yuuka really seems to be growing in popularity recently, first with the second version from Griffon and then with the stunning ques Q one which is coming out soon. I wouldn’t be at all surprised if she was next up for GSC–though I (along with many other people) are dying for a Yukari Yakumo Nendoroid.

We already saw what underdog company ques Q had to offer at Wonder Festival, but they had so many amazing figures it can’t hurt to take a second look! Especially since so many of them are from popular game franchises. I’m sure what interests our readers the most are the two figures from Persona 3: Aegis in her school uniform and Elizabeth, who is based on a garage kit.
Persona isn’t the only franchise being represented: we also have quite a bit of Touhou Project! First and foremost is the amazing Flandre who will come with a crazy face (FINALLY)! She’ll also be getting a Halloween-themed chibi along with Remilia. Yuuka also showed up, though she is getting released soon. And then there’s Percival from Eiyuu*Senki who I am head over heels with, and last (and, yes, least for me) is a swimsuit version of Taiga: though I don’t think it holds a candle to their Tiger or Bunny versions of her.

I’ve been really looking forward to ques Q’s line of Touhou Project figures based on various pieces of art. The first, Nitori, was painfully cute, but it’s the other two (Remilia and Yuuka) that really drew my attention. Finally, some menacing Touhou figures! We got a teaser of Yuuka’s sculpt and I really wasn’t expecting to see her painted for a while, but here she is, looking fabulous!
Yuuka is definitely far more impressive than what I expected. Her sculpt is gorgeous, her face is spot-on, and her paint looks great. So much motion in a relatively simple pose! Her price also isn’t that crazy (for ques Q, at least) at ¥8,400. She’ll be released in May, and expect orders to open very soon!

Back at Reitaisai 9, ques Q unveiled a ton of new Touhou figures all based on some pretty awesome art. We’ve already seen moeblob Nitori, and now it’s time for a peek at their angry Yuuka! Griffon’s versions of her have always been a little too sugary-sweet for my taste, so I am loving the crazy face and the splatter of blood on her arm. And the sculpt looks fantastic, so much detail in her hair! Definitely a figure I am heavily anticipating, though I must admit their Remilia has me the most excited.

Apparently today is Custom Figure day here on Plastikitty: we already had those nifty Persona figmas along with a recolor of Yukata Miku, and now it’s time for Touhou! Unlike the Touhou Nendoroid line, the Touhou figma line has been basically neglected and we only have 5 girls: Marisa, Reimu, Sakuya, Suika and Aya. Of course there are well over a hundred girls in reality, and it’s no surprise that customizers have gotten to work on the rest of them. Well, some of the rest of them. We’ve got Flandre, Remilia, Nitori, Youmu, Nazrin, Yukari, and a whole lot more, so check them all out after the jump!

Griffon, Touhou Project, and event exclusives: it’s a match made in heaven, or at least Griffon seems to think so! They always have a ton of recolors no matter what the event, and this time its Touhou Kouroumu 8, a doujin event that will take place on October 7th. Most of these are not new: we saw them at Aka no Hiroba 8 and Wonder Festival. However, we do have two new colorways: one of their version 2 Komachi Onozuka, and a red version of their Gungir Remilia Scarlett. We’ve also got Marisa, Reimu, Suika, Yuyuko, and many many more. If you’re hitting up the event you’ll have a ton of options! If not, expect these to pop up on the after-market quite soon (and for not much of a price bump!).

Griffon sure does love events, and always brings way more exclusives than any other company. Of course it’s always recolors, but some of them are quite cool! For Aka no Hiroba 8 they’ve got quite a few lined up, though only two are “new.” We’ve got a 3rd colorway of their Curiosities of Lotus Asia Remilia and a FOURTH version of their Aya Shameimaru (though the clear one is still my favorite).
Everything else we’ve seen before: they’ve got quite a few of their Wonder Festival colors along with that weird Christmas Flandre. Each of them is very limited, around 30 pieces a pop, but thankfully Griffon does tend to bring back their recolors a LOT. Aka no Hiroba will take place on September 9th if you happen to be in Japan and want to pick one of these ladies up!

Reitaisai is an event in Japan dedicated to all things Touhou Project, so of course several figure manufacturers show up. Ques q seems to be really pushing their Touhou line to new heights recently, starting with their gorgeous Yukari who had a limited version at the event. They didn’t really have any figures on-hand, but they did have… pictures of figures!
The sculpt for their Yuyuko Saigyouji seems done, and it’s kind of hard to tell but it looks amazing so far. They also announced three new figures: Remilia Scarlett, Nitori Kawashiro, and Yuuka Kazami. I’m hoping they stay true to the art for these figures, because they look pretty fantastic!
